Nature’s Corner
Hello Folks,
Since our last newsltter, Mrs Pee Jay and myself have been away dog sitting for my daughter whilst she was on holiday. One good thing there was no need to walking the dogs as their garden is enormous and backs onto farmland and is surround by lots of mature tress which makes for plenty of birds and wildlife.
After sorting out the dogs, the new job was to fill the feeders placed around the garden. The most plentiful birds were chaffinches, then logs of green finches (not many of these in Sawbridgeworth). Many Blackbirds, Sparrows, Blue Tits, a Wren or two, a Mistle Thrush and the best of all, as regular visitors, a parent Green Woodpecker and three juveniles checking out the lawn for ants nests.
The Butterflies have been plentiful and as the boarders have been planted up to encourage them, there are lots of Tortoise Shells, some various white ones, Peacocks, Meadow Browns, Commas, the last few Brimstones, but as yet, no Red Admirals.
More soon… Pee Jay
