Dear Reader
Thank you to all those people who kindly completed our annual Questionnaire. This information is passed to Hertfordshire County Council, who contribute a small grant to our annual running costs which I am pleased to say has been awarded for this year. It was lovely to read the very positive comments and I wish to thank the Staff and Volunteers for their continued support of the Hailey Centre without whom the Centre would be hard pressed to cover all the current activities.
To secure funding from the County it is essential that we provide for the whole community and not just a few. I’m sure you are aware by now of the weekly sessions which are provided by Hertswise for people with Dementia. Funding is also given subject to our exercise classes. The Hailey Centre continues to be a meeting place for the over 55’s but in this climate the Centre has to be open to the wider community.
There are trips to Poplar Nursery in Braintree on 17th April and Paradise Wildlife Park on 15th May. If you would like to go on either or both of these trips please put your name down in the office together with payment (please see individual adverts for further details).
As this year is the 100th Anniversary of the RAF, we will be holding a celebration to mark this event on Tuesday 29th May. The afternoon will hopefully start with a demonstration from Sawbridgeworth ATC followed by entertainment from Diane Moore with light refreshments being served during the afternoon. As places are limited please put your name down with payment in the office.
As most of you will be aware we are still looking for a permanent replacement for Fiona in the Kitchen. I would like to thank Fiona and Gill for volunteering to keep our kitchen open in the meantime and to thank them both for their support with Liz’s Café. If anyone would like to volunteer on a Thursday at Liz’s Café to help cook, serve, clear or wash up, all volunteers would be very welcome.
Thank you for your support as always.
